The war for warp-cursed Croatoas continues. Following their successes during Operation Jotunn, Lieutenant Commander Hadeya Etsul and the crew of the Leman Russ Demolisher Steel Tread return to the front lines. As celebrated Giant-killers, they are entrusted with a new mission that will test not only their combat prowess but also their unity.

Etsul takes command of a convoy of armored vehicles and infantry. Their mission leads them through contested territory, where a legendary Lord Commissar is to be safely transported to the faltering Ruega Front. But a new crew member disrupts the well-established structure within the Steel Tread, while a dangerous enemy lurks in the high passes ahead.

As difficulties mount, Etsul must make decisions that could jeopardize her mission as well as the painstakingly built trust of her crew. This Warhammer 40,000 novel focuses on life inside a powerful battle tank, the relationships within its crew, and the importance of their cooperation in combat.
