The Dropsite Massacre

The Dropsite Massacre stands among the most infamous events of the Horus Heresy.

What begins as a massive Imperial operation to destroy Horus and his rebellion becomes a catastrophic betrayal that changes the course of human history.

The Loyalists arrive expecting to punish traitors.

Instead, they discover that Horus’ conspiracy extends far deeper than they realized.

Horus Reveals His Rebellion

Horus has turned against the Emperor.

His initial attempts to purge loyal elements from his own forces and those of his allies were intended to conceal the true scale of his plans.

But the Warmaster’s treachery has been exposed.

The Imperium must respond before the rebellion can spread.

The Emperor’s Vengeance

Acting in the Emperor’s name, Rogal Dorn and Malcador the Sigillite assemble an enormous military response.

Legionaries and Primarchs are gathered into one of the largest forces yet assembled, with a seemingly straightforward objective:

Destroy the rebellion before it can truly begin.

The force travels toward Isstvan V believing it has the strength required to bring Horus to justice.

A Betrayal Beyond Expectation

The Loyalists understand that Horus has betrayed the Emperor.

What they don’t understand is just how many others have betrayed them as well.

The warriors descending upon Isstvan V believe they are preparing to conduct a massacre of the rebels.

They soon discover they are intended to be its victims.

Isstvan V

The dust of Isstvan V becomes the setting for one of the most consequential battles of the entire Horus Heresy.

The events that unfold there shatter any remaining hope that the Imperium can simply suppress the rebellion and return to the unity of the Great Crusade.

Those who survive will emerge into a very different galaxy.

The age of conquest and unity is ending.

The Age of Darkness has begun.

The Depth of the Treachery

Readers familiar with the broad history of the Horus Heresy may already know the outcome of the Dropsite Massacre.

This novel goes deeper into the battle, exploring the events, characters, and betrayals behind one of the setting’s defining moments.
