Every miniature’s got leather on it somewhere boots, belts, pouches, saddle straps and AK’s Quick Gen Leather is the shade built to knock the lot out in one pass. It’s a resin-based, contrast-style paint: brush it over a light primer and it pools into the recesses while pulling back off the raised detail, leaving proper depth without a separate shade or highlight step. If you’ve got a unit to finish this weekend, this is the colour that does the heavy lifting.

Best for

• Boots, belts, pouches, straps and saddlery on any miniature
• Speed-painting units over a white or light grey primer
• Shading and highlighting leatherwork in a single coat

How to use

• Apply over a light-coloured primer so the pigment has something to pool against
• Give the bottle a proper shake first the pigment settles in the base
• Thin slightly with water or AK’s own medium if it’s dragging on larger areas

One coat, dry, and that model’s leatherwork is done on to the next colour in the queue.
